Een Boom Camp
Een Boom Camp
Highlights: If you’re looking for a route that offers tranquillity with the feeling of being well off the path yet don’t have the time to spend more than two nights out in the wilderness. Then our Een Boom Camp route could well be the option for you. A route designed for people with moderate levels of fitness, you’ll start with a nice flat 4km along a river, the perfect warm-up before a testing accent as we turn left and head up the mountain. Multiple points to replenish your water supply in the fresh mountain streams this lesser-known route really does give you a feeling of the remoteness and vastness of The Cederberg mountains, yet only 2 hours drive from Cape Town. After the accent, we will walk the plateau towards our night one campsite Een Boom Camp (1 tree camp) which is a tree in the middle of a vast mountain plateau. Day two begins like with most a cup of coffee, from there we walk the plateau, through an old cedar forest as we make for our lunch spot next to a small fast-flowing river. After lunch is all that is left is a relatively easy walk as we make for nights 2 camp under old trees and next to a refreshing pool near the Middleberg hut. Leaving plenty of the afternoon for relaxing, reading, or just soaking up the beautiful scenery. Our final day again starts with coffee before our three hours descent back into the valley and our starting point where a cold beer and shower can be enjoyed.
